36 pages exposing talented local artists, their processes and exposures.

Photosynthesis is developing a quarterly magazine that will feature artist interviews, features, curated work, local archive and more.

Content is sourced by curated submission from our community with editorial design by volunteers.

Process

Submit Work / Feature Proposal

Up to 3 per artist. Indicate if you would like to be interviewed or have a photographic process you would like to share.

First Cull Selection by Photosynthesis Curation Panel

The submissions are reviewed by the Curation Panel who is editing the current version of the magazine. Possible inclusion will lead to request for full-res images. Interviewees and process features will be contacted.

Editing of Magazine

Features will be written, work sequenced, and the final edit will be sent to the printers.

Publication and Launch

The magazine will be available online and in print (pending grant support).

It will launch at Photosynthesis with a launch night and an exhibition (pending grant support).

Make a Submission

We are seeking work to feature throughout the book.

This will be sequenced in photo book style throughout the magazine.

An index will include:

  • Artist name

  • 200-character bio

  • Name of work

  • Socials / website (up to 2).

Submit work for feature

Express interest in an Interview

We are seeking three artists to feature throughout the magazine.

This will be in an interview / article style that showcases diverse talent.

The interview will include:

  • A discussion about your practices

  • Feature of your work

  • Interesting things that come up in discussion.

  • Socials / website.

Propose a process or practice feature

We are seeking a photographic practice and process to feature.

This will be in one section of the magazine.

The feature will include:

  • Brief info about you

  • Key parts of the process

  • Work made using the process

  • Socials / website.
