DATES AND TIMES TO BE FINALISED
Inside Stories is a hands-on workshop for young people about the processes and ethics of photographing their own stories and environment.
Facilitated by Christchurch photographer, Heather Milne, Inside Stories enables young people to engage in photography through workshops and the loan of cameras. The result is a collaborative photography exhibition and archive of digital images for the community. The current Otautahi Christchurch 2026 edition features images by young people from Prestons Scouts in Marshlands.
Natural disasters such as Cyclone Gabrielle and the Canterbury earthquakes have emphasised the importance of documenting our communities with imagery, so that we can appreciate what we have on our doorstep and better understand our changing landscapes. These images need to be made by locals, for locals.
By involving young people in this image archive, we can view our environment through the lens of a young generation, teach camera skills to a new audience, and provide a safe platform for young people to tell their stories through photography.
