A Palmful of Parsley traces the space between experimentation and intention, bringing together Jessica Fleming’s works across alternative analogue processes and digital photography. Moving from studio photography to plant-based film development, the work reflects an ongoing exploration of material, method, and meaning.
Past projects have been rooted in experiments with gorse flowers as a natural developer; this practice extends toward a wider pursuit of plant-based processes, incorporating rosemary, parsley, thyme, mint, beetroot and other natural materials for developing film throughout the upcoming residency. Engaging with how we see, use, and relate to the natural world, the work invites a reconsideration of the darkroom as a place where ecology and photography can intersect.
This exhibition leads into Fleming’s upcoming artist residency, making a shift toward slower and more eco-friendly photography.
